The roofing trade fascinated me from an early age, so that in 1977 I decided to learn this interesting profession. I was able to celebrate graduation in the summer of 1980 with my apprenticeship certificate.
I came to the roofing industry in 1991 via the roofing specialist trade, where I was able to continue my education in a wide variety of areas.
Since that time I have been working in the technical support of architects, dealers and roofing craftsmen with a focus on undervoltage, underlaying, underroofs and vapor barrier products from well-known manufacturers.
With Klöber & Tyvek®, I played a key role in the changeover from diffusion-closed to diffusion-open products in the 1990s.
I was involved in the creation of the product data sheets for sarking, underlay and under-roof membranes in the regulations of the roofing trade, published by the central association of the German roofing trade.
As part of my further training, in 2003 I proved my special expertise in the roofing trade at the Association of Freelance Building Experts and became an expert in the roofing trade with a focus on pitched roof constructions.
Until 2009 I was responsible for DuPont Tyvek® for application-related inquiries in German-speaking countries. The different processing techniques of the individual countries had to be implemented.
Since the beginning of my work as an application engineer, I have published various specialist articles with well-known authors (Hans Jürgen Krolkiewicz, Sven Erik Tornow, Gerhard Halama) about the requirements, differences and processing of underlays/underlay membranes in trade journals. You can find a selection under the menu item “Service/Publications”.
At Fiberweb I was responsible for the technical support of private label customers.
My main tasks during this time consisted of
- Supervising the CE tests, - creating country-specific processing specifications and brochures - as well as preparing my own brand (CLIMAT). Conducting courses for architects, planners and craftsmen is one of my favorite activities.
In March 2014, Fiberweb decided to stop manufacturing building products. I saw this as an opportunity to become self-employed.
The further training in the area of my expert work by the QM Academy for the roofing trade with a focus on pitched roof constructions was successfully completed in July 2014.
